HOBBIES

Queen Elizabeth Rose

Mr. Land enjoys growing hybrid roses, and going on wine tasting excursions with friends. The hybrid roses that Rick has grown run the gamut from the pinkish-white Queen Elizabeth and pinkish-yellow Princess Diana to the deep purple of the Barbra Streisand rose to whitish-pink JFK, white Peace, and greenish-colored Iceberg rose. The color, smell and personality of these roses are what attract Mr. Land to grow these varied types of flowers.

WinesMr. Land's wine tasting excursions have taken him to many of the traditional and non-traditional growing regions in the US and Canada, including the Monterey Valley, Napa and Sonoma Valleys, up to the Pacific Northwest and over to the Canadian Niagara Lakes, and into the New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio Lake regions. Each region and wine has a different flavor and quality that is fun to discover with friends. Meeting new people and discovering the history of the region, along with some good cheer is always a part of every trip. Ice wines, sparkling wines, spumantes, merlots, and shirazes are to Mr. Land’s liking, but there is always a wine on the tasting list that can be a surprise and delight to discover.
